Well, it maybe can be considered a bit egocentric writting a thread about it but don't take it like that. This is a new community that is growing so fast, so this is just my grain of sand to help it to become better.
I have seen too many players in different RP servers using wrongly the command /me. I have elaborated my own theory about how to use /me after months RPing in some servers considered the best ones for roleplay and playing with the best RPers you could ever seen.
/me is a command used for physical actions. When you use it, you act like an narrator who is seeing the whole situation from outside. Therefor, as he doesn't know your feelings, thoughts or else, the /me cmd is only for physical actions such as the following ones:
*Jason_Murphy reaches under his pants and pulls out a Golden Desert Eagle.*
*Jason_Murphy leans forward him and whispers near his ear.*
*Jason_Murphy undoes a bit his bandana and rubs his head.*
*Jason_Murphy looks around and sighs.*
Because of the "narrator rule", the following /me are wrong:
*Jason_Murphy is sad*
*Jason_Murphy thinks: "Fucking pigs*
*Jason_Murphy thinks in run away*
Also, the last two /mes only make the people you are RPing with metagame. If they are smart, they won't metagame like hell and shoot you after they see "*Giuliano_Anucci is thinking in kill him*", but they will probably makes his character suddenly be scared of anything you can do, or maybe be a psycho who kills you because some kind of mentality problem.
Use the geround for /mes is wrong too:
*Jason_Murphy hitting him with his fits*
If you want to use gerund, then do:
*Jason_Murphy is smoking*
*Jason_Murphy starts hitting him with his fits*
Also, let the other players have a chance to RP the way they want when you use /me, or it would cause powergame:
*Jason_Murphy takes fast out a gun, moves to him and aims him with it.*
Separate the commands, so they can have a chance to move/survive/run away:
*Jason_Murphy takes fast out a gun.*
*Jason_Murphymoves to him fast, with the gun in his hand.*
*Jason_Murphy aims him with the gun*
If you don't use the /me command properly, it's called powergame.
* Slitting Necks , Also without using /me's this is classed powergaming.
* /me cuffs x (This is powergaming because it gives the player no escape option, you didn't include in the /me how you cuffed the person, therefore he/she has no escape route, and doesn't even know where he/she is cuffed, the right way to do this is:
/me takes 'x' wrist - /me cuffs 'x''s left wrist - /me takes his right wrist - /me cuffs his wrists together.
* Using /knockout , without using /me's beforehand giving the victim no chance to escape. (/me's MUST be used before /knocking out)
A player can also be described as a powergamer if (s)he presumes or declares that his or her own action against another player character is successful without giving the other player character the freedom to act on his own prerogative. They may also be a player who tries to force others to participate in role-playing they don't want to engage in. For instance, a player who unilaterally describes his character as doing something with (or to) another character that would usually require the other to play along — such as having a fight or a sexual encounter — is considered to be powergaming.
Basically, don't do:
*Jason_Murphy touches her boobs*
*Jason_Murphy moves to her and touches her p--*
Actually, I myself would ban if i see that.
The problem of powergaming:
Younger and less socially experienced players are more often powergamers, and it is these same people who are often seen as potentially disruptive to the various types of social interplay that others enjoy in RP. Disruptive powergamers may focus primarily on developing their own character with disregard to any others, and may seek to have the play focus on their character's resulting extraordinary capabilities, leaving others with little to do.
Because of the highly capable nature of their characters, methods other than simple direct confrontation are not often necessary to resolve whatever problems the characters face. This can largely leave other enjoyable parts of RP out of play.
A group that doesn't enjoy powergaming can even have difficulties incorporating a more cooperative powergamer; the comparative lack of interest shown in the groups style and a tendency to quickly overshadow less capable characters in action scenes can be difficult to handle in a manner that keeps the game enjoyable for everyone else.
As a result of these problems, social groups which favour the story telling or method acting aspects of RP often find it more fun to play separately from powergamers, and vice versa. However, it is quite possible to accommodate most any play style in a group and have an enjoyable game for all when players are aware of the need to give everyone's favoured style some time in the spotlight.
I think that's all. If i missed something, feel free to tell me so i can add it.
And Thanks to my friend Costigen who helped me to phrase this Guide.
