Where does the line between good and evil crosses? Who decided where it shall lie? Who is to divide between the two?

She doesn't belong here. She knew. But what can she do? Scream to the rats lying there with her since she remembers herself? That will just cause them to run away into the darkness, leaving her alone. She wasn't sad. On the contrary – she has always looking for hope, for bravery, for the light in the end of long, wet, dark tunnel. The sewers.

The sounds of screeching metals woke her up. She was used to it, but something wasn't as she used to. She stood up, shaking off the rat's excrements of her rags without putting any special care in it. She was used to it too. What choice did she have, after all?
The sound of screeching got louder but now she could here the sounds of yelling men. Human. She put her ear near one of the pipes almost too naturally, and at the same moment she did, she heard them. "Damn think hit the hell out of me, but we got him good, ha!" One of the men said. She pressed her hear stronger on the pipe. "Be quiet you! We don't need anymore of his friends around here so don't help them finding us with your stupid non-stopping whining!" The voices stopped and a dim sound of dragging echoes her ear. She let off the pipe, wondering what that was all about. Her curiosity was too strong. She took her dagger, which was a bit rusty, but that is how she found it, and started to walk. She knew exactly where she is going, as she knew which pipe she had to listen to. Somehow she managed to remain in the dark. She didn't mean to, but the long nights she had to hide from the militia have bonded some uncontrolled habits. Anyway, it was better that way.

The sounds had started again. They were clearer and louder now, even though she could easily tell they were whispering now. She was close. Very close, maybe around the corner. Maybe from the opening from above. She stopped so she could listen. "Let's just throw him in the water. No one will notice! The rats will probably eat the corpse!" Her hand tided up on the dagger's handle. "Do you want to take that chance? One look from those damn priests and they'll know everything. Let's just keep going till the river, and get rid of the body in the woods. The goblins and wolves will do a better job from the rats anyway!" Body? Murder? She didn't know what to do. She could just do nothing! But no. She isn't the kind that does nothing, and besides, two murderers are walking in her home! She slipped back into darkness and took the shortcut to the main exit from the sewers to the river.

She waited for them for almost an hour. Either the boy was heavy or they got lost. She sat on the shady stone, almost invisible for the untrained eye. "It's about time" she mumbled to herself. She wasn't amused or nervous. She was thrilled. Not what she is about to do, but from the idea of doing it. She was curios. She wanted to touch, do, smell, see. Everything. Even this. She had everything planned in her head. The improvised net she has set down the river was is place to catch the dead body. She was to take them one by one. First she will make them split up in the sewers on their way back to the surface. But something went wrong, something that wasn't planned. Something she couldn't control, even though it was right in her playground. As the two men came from around the corner her planned passed from catching into something else. The body she though to be a dead body, turned up very much alive. She could see four limbs and even pointed ears head struggling inside a big sack dragged behind the two men. And it gave quiet a fight, considering the fact he was trapped in a sack! She had to stop them before they will throw him into the water, or her net will only help him to drown. Without any second thought she jumped from the shadow, sending a sharp stone toward one the men's knee. A splash of blood. A loud scream. The echo… She was back in the shadow long before he hit the ground, crying. "Wh..Wha…." Another blurry shadow and the other men was on his knees, holding his throat. His eyes moves left and right while his lips opened, trying to send another scream into the cold corridors of her kingdom. She was gone. So is the sack. It was heavy. Much heavier then she was, but was used to carry heavy thing quickly. A useful skill if you are to survive under the nose of the militia.

She was back where what she called her room was. The sack, still sealed, stood on the floor. The one inside stopped struggling. "Um…hello?" She said. No answer. He was alive, she knew it. Breathing, even moving every now and then, but silence. Um…tall one is safe here! Tall one can talk to me… I saved you, you know. Yes yes... I saved you from nasty big human!" Nothing…She stood up, holding her dagger. A quick swift and the sack was wide open. Inside, a pale tall elf was lying on the ground, sending a long deep gaze. "I'm Meri. I saved you, you know. But I see you are an elf, so I understand why you not so nice, yes…" The elf didn't move. Only his eyes started to scan the dark room. She went to the corner of the room, taking a dirty cup filled with water. "Here, drink. It's clean…well, It isn’t too filthy…" The elf stood up, grabbing almost violently the cup off her hand. Only now she has realized how tall he is, even for a small being as she is. "Those two men...who were they? What did they want from tall elf?" The elf, still not answering her words, started to walk across the room, scanning the walls and the ceiling. "You know, you can at least say thank you…yes." As the elf reached the other side of the room he turned to her and his low voice, almost as he was whispering, echoed in the room. "How did I get here? Where am I"?
